A request for volunteers for the campaign on the social media site NextDoor attracted interest of troops whose members range from elementary through high school age. They spent time on weekends to post the signs and continued their efforts until the current supply of signs was exhausted.
The participating scout groups were Boy Scout Troops No. 1444 (based in the Colesville area) and No. 463 (Kensington); Cub Scout Pack No. 56 (Bethesda); Girl Scout Troops No. 958 (Rockville), No. 2317 (Wheaton), No. 34038 (Germantown) and No. 32040 (Germantown); and Daisy Troop 31067 (Wheaton).
The Montgomery County Department of Parks granted permission for the signs to be posted in some of its parks. In addition to local parks, MaskUpMoCo signs have been installed in areas of the County by the Bethesda Urban District, the Silver Spring Urban District, the Wheaton Urban District and the County’s Department of Transportation.
