Montgomery County is working quickly to assist those impacted by the explosion and fire that occurred on the morning of Thursday, March 3, at the Friendly Garden Apartments on Lyttonsville Road in Silver Spring. A system has been established to help the victims. Many residents evacuated carrying very little or nothing.
Montgomery County Fire Chief Scott Goldstein has reported that three full buildings in the six-building complex are no longer safe to occupy. His report was based on evaluations by the County Department of Permitting Services and the County Fire and Rescue Service.Funds are needed for transportation, clothing and supplies for children and families.
