The February 15 deadline to enroll in health coverage through the Affordable Care Act is near. Residents in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties are urged to sign up online at www.marylandhealthconnection.gov or get in-person assistance to enroll at more than 20 locations throughout the community.

For 2015, the penalty for not having coverage is two percent of gross household income or $325 per individual, whichever is greater. Federal law provides exemptions for certain individuals, including those below a certain income and those who are without coverage for less than three months.
