‘Culinary Traditions of Europe’ Free Online Discussion Will Be Cooking on Thursday, Dec. 15Local community members representing the diversity of European heritage will gather to share their food memories and culinary traditions from across Europe in a free online discussion that is open to all from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15. “Culinary Traditions of Europe,” which will be hosted by Carol Lite and will be presented by Silver Spring Town Center, Inc., will include some holiday food traditions in a wide discussion.

Previous "Culinary Traditions" programs in the Silver Spring series have had a focus on the diasporas of Africa, Asian-American Pacific Islanders and Latin American.

A long-term resident of Silver Spring, host Carol Lite was raised in Chicago by a fabulous cook. Her mother cooked all the foods that Carol’s grandmother, a Jewish immigrant from Poland, taught her. At the discussion, she will offer details on “kreplach” or “mandel brot.”

Ms. Lite is a retired Montgomery County Public Schools math and ESOL teacher. She is an avid traveler and will share her incredible story visiting Svalbard, also known as Spitsbergen, or Spitzbergen, a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean.
