“Live Garra Theatre” of Silver Spring will have a week of performances Tuesday, Feb. 13, through Sunday, Feb. 18, in celebration of Black History Month. The performances, which will be at the Silver Spring Black Box Theatre, will have a theme of “A Thirst for Freedom.”
The Black Box Theatre is located at 8641 Colesville Road in Silver Spring. Live Garra is being presented by Silver Spring Town Center, Inc.
The centerpiece event of the celebration is a new play that tells the story of what life was like for Black Americans from the end of slavery as an American institution to the beginning of the great migration out of the South.
A Mardi Gras Jazz Night will be held at 8 p.m. on Feb. 13. There will be a carnival, music, beads and masks.
