Recreation Community Centers Have Started to Reopen

Montgomery County Recreation this week reopened multiple recreation centers for in-person services and the Wheaton Community Recreation Center will reopen on Monday, June 21.

The Longbranch, Gwendolyn Coffield, Germantown and Longwood Centers will temporarily remain closed.

“Reopening our facilities safely is one of our highest priorities,” said Montgomery County Recreation Director Robin Riley. “Throughout the pandemic, we have successfully provided virtual programs and outdoor programs, and now we can safely begin in-person reopening.”

Recreation staff members are working on a wide array of programs including classes, sports programs and summer camps. Virtual programs and outdoor programs will continue to be offered.

RecFit passes will be available that will include access to the gymnasiums and weight rooms of all County recreation centers. Current memberships will be extended 90 days. Non-residents will pay an additional $15.

The fees are RecFit Youth (17 and younger), free; RecFit—six months, $60; RecFit—one year, $110; Senior Sneaker (55-and-over)—six months, $30; and Senior Sneaker (55-and-over)—one year, $55.
