Two Sessions of Three-Day ‘Senior Adventures Camps’ to be Led by Montgomery Recreation in June
Montgomery County Recreation is offering seniors 55 and older the opportunity to participate in “Senior Adventures,” a pair of three-day camps that can help seniors make connections with fun activities while also exploring enjoyable places in the community. The camps will be held over the four-day period from June 21-24 based at the Long Branch Senior Center in Silver Spring and June 28-30 based at the Damascus Senior Center.
Each Senior Adventure camp has a $25 fee for the three days of activities. The fee includes transportation, lunches and all supplies associated with the camp experience.
The first camp will take place 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the overall period from Tuesday, June 21, through Friday, June 24. Camp days will be Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Participants will meet each day at the Long Branch Senior Center, which is located at 8700 Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring. Register here to participate.
The second camp will take place 9 a.m.-3 p.m. from Tuesday, June 28, through Thursday, June 30. Participants will meet each day at the Damascus Senior Center, which is located at 9701 Main St. in Damascus. Register here to participate.
Both camps will include lunch, theme days, musical entertainment, guest lectures and trips on a coach bus. Seniors will be able to take time to enjoy Nature Day, learning to do simple flower arranging, and going on a trip to Brookside Gardens in Wheaton for a guided tour.
The camps also will include a Sports Day which will include variety of sports games, a guest speaker and a trip to a local pool.
There also will be the experience of a Tropical Paradise Day where participants will learn how to play a ukulele and hula dance moves, culminating with a fun Hawaiian luau.
