The 11th Annual VisArts Rockville Arts Festival will be held Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7, in Rockville Town Square. The free outdoor festival will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day and will feature original works from 130 artists and artisans.
The festival will include Raku demonstrations by VisArts’ instructors, artwork by VisArts’ VisAbility Art Lab artists and artisanal fare.
The event will offer the opportunity to meet new artists and artists who are returning to the festival. They will display their creations of original pieces in a variety of media, including ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture and wood.
Each day of the festival will have food and drink available from local vendors. There also will be an opportunity to participate in a fun community art project led by renowned mixed media artist and master printmaker Steve Prince. Attendees also can sign up to participate in a new chalk art competition.

The festival will necessitate some traffic changes for the weekend in Downtown Rockville. Some streets around Rockville Town Square will close at 9 a.m. Friday, May 5, and reopen at 9 p.m. Sunday, May 7. East Middle Lane will be closed from the HSBC Bank and Helen Heneghan Way to Gibbs Street. Maryland Avenue will be closed from the Garage A entrance to East Montgomery Avenue.
