Dr. Bernice Sandler, known as the “Godmother of Title IX” for her struggle that led to the enactment of the landmark educational equity legislation, will present the keynote address at the 2013 Women’s Legislative Briefing to be held Sunday, January 27 from noon to 6 p.m. at The Universities at Shady Grove, Building II, 9630 Gudelsky Dr., Rockville.Following the opening ceremonies and keynote address, there will be a panel discussion on Women’s Issues in Congress and seminars on legislation in this year’s General Assembly. The event will conclude with a reception where attendees can talk with local elected officials and advocates, and representatives from local and national women’s organizations.
The annual event is sponsored by the County’s Commission for Women and numerous women’s organizations in addition to Kaiser Permanente and AARP.
