Tell Us What is on Your Mind: County Residents Encouraged to Participate in Community Survey

We want to hear from you! Do you have a few minutes to share your thoughts and perspectives on local government, its services and quality of life?

The County’s online survey, open through Friday, July 19, can be taken in English, Spanish or Chinese.

The 2019 Resident Survey was mailed to 5,000 randomly selected County households in the first week of June. Residents who did not receive the questionnaire in the mail are encouraged to participate online.

  1. Given that over 30 residents have commented on fungal tasting water in the east side of the county, I recommend greater oversight of WSSC.

  2. I think the county should do away with righ turn on red & also put left turn lights @ Georgia & Windham, also more radar traps, also make Georgia Ave @ Plyers mill safe, cars & motorcycles seem to speed & last week I saw 4 cars speeding like a race.

  3. We were terribly disappointed to read that the National Philharmonic Symphony would have to dissolve because of lack of adequate support. As a former teacher who took her students to their children concerts, and as subscribers since the opening of the Strathmore Hall we are very upset. This is a cultural jewel we have in our county, and should do all possible to keep it available.

  4. The survey has no place for additional comments on issues that were not addressed in the survey.

  5. I completed the survey, but was very disappointed that you did not include any spaces for comments.

  6. There is no place on the survey to elaborate on your feelings about Montgomery County; only multiple choice answers. So instead of "Tell us what is on your mind" it should be tell us what we want to know. I am disappointed that I spent my time on the survey and don't even get to make comments and/or suggestions

  7. I applaud the county for doing the survey, but the survey was missing a number of questions it should have such as quality of Senior Centers (which are distinct from Recreation Centers). This alone shows a lack of concerns for seniors (which is also shown when the Damascus Senior Citizen Center cut the bus transportation for seniors on Friday and starting charging $1 for the ice cream socials when the ice cream is donated by Jimmy Cone). Also some of the questions really need an explanation for the response because it may not be what the surveyors were expecting or will interpret it correctly. For example, I have not attended public meetings not because of a lack of interest, but because the time and especially the locations are generally not convenient. Additionally, the politicians rarely respond to any issues submitted by e-mail (although I appreciate the e-mail communications that some provide while others never or rarely reach out to their constituents). If they do, it is usually a canned political response that is not really helpful.

  8. I have tried to complete it twice and get an error message at the 71%. Perhaps they do not like my responses.

  9. This survey is too long. Takes much longer than 15 mins. Can’t design a proper survey. Only got halfway and gave up.

  10. It should be mandatory that dogs and their owners attend behavior training, and leash laws and scoop-the-poop laws should be better enforced.
