‘Silver Spring Swings’ Thursday Night Family Concerts Will Feature ‘The Jarreau Williams Experience’ on July 13

‘Silver Spring Swings’ Thursday Night Family Concerts Will Feature ‘The Jarreau Williams Experience’ on July 13

The “Silver Spring Swings” long-running free summer concert series with groups that inspire the audience to get up and dance will feature The Jarreau Williams Experience at Veterans Plaza in Downtown Silver Spring. The group’s leader is sometimes called the “man with the golden pipes.”

A popular feature of the summer concert series, which will continue through July, has always been the community interaction of dancing with strangers in the front of the stage. The series is called “Silver Spring Swings” not because it features swing music, but because of all of the dancing.

Veterans Plaza is adjacent to the Silver Spring Civic Building at One Veterans Place in Downtown Silver Spring. Performances are canceled due to weather only if it is dangerous weather at 7 p.m.

The family-focused series also will have games and activities for children, chill time for the parents and delicious food and ice cream nearby in the Silver Spring Arts and Entertainment District.

The “Silver Spring Swings” Thursday night concert series will continue throughout July with popular bands, dancing, games and prizes for kids.

The July lineup of Thursday concerts will include:
  • July 13. The Jarreau Williams Experience. Smooth powerhouse vocals fuse with modern R and B grooves, beatbox and nostalgic lyrics of unity, perseverance and positive vibes. The frontman for The Jerrau Williams Experience is known as the “man with the golden pipes.” The band has been entertaining crowds at clubs across the region with high-energy performances.
  • July 20. The Bottom Dwellers. The evening will be a mix of classic rock, oldies and hits. The fun performance will feature sing-along chart toppers and danceable tunes.
  • July 27. Revelator Hill Blues Band. Master guitarist and founder Bobby Thompson is joined by the fiery vocals of Rachel Ann Morgan to create a solid rhythm section of scene, along with veterans Gina Cocco on bass and drummer Ben Tufts.
