The American Film Institute of Silver Spring to Host Free Silver Screens Outdoor Film Festival

The American Film Institute of Silver Spring is hosting the second annual Silver Screens outdoor film festival on Friday evenings. The free movies will be held in Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring.

The free weekly screenings begin at 8 p.m., rain or shine. The festival ends September 1. Moviegoers are invited to bring their own seats.

Upcoming moves will include:

• Aug. 25: “Purple Rain” 
• Sept. 1: “School of Rock”
