Feedback Sought on New Ride On Trip Planner App That Will Improve Rider Experiences

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has launched a new Ride On Trip Planner app that will make public transportation planning easier. Through July 5, MCDOT’ will be seeking rider feedback on the app.

The new Ride On Trip Planner app allows for trip planning across multiple modes including Ride On buses, Metrorail and Metro buses, scooters and Bikeshare.

The app also will have crowdsourcing information for Ride On buses to give live reports on arrival times and ridership levels to alert riders if an incoming bus is at, or near, capacity. This will allow riders to choose if they want to get on the arriving bus, wait for the next bus or choose another travel option.

The app will provide information so Ride On buses can be dispatched to busier routes based on immediate need. This will reduce wait times for riders.

Riders can download the app from the Google Play or Apple app store.

Riders are encouraged to download the app, try it out and share their experience with Ride On by emailing comments to RideOn.TripPlanner@montgomerycountymd.gov. They also can provide feedback by calling 311 in the County or 240-777-0311. Riders also can provide feedback via social media @RideOnMCT on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

The app provides features to guide riders along their chosen route, including “first mile, last mile” directions to the selected bus stop and destination and has notifications when they have arrived at their bus stop.

The app was launched in partnership with Moovit, a global mobility trip-planning mobile app software company.
