Montgomery Parks to Commemorate Black History Month with Special Events Throughout February

Montgomery Parks will commemorate Black History Month with events throughout February.

Scheduled events include:

Black History Month Family Days. Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 24-25. Noon–4 p.m.
  • Josiah Henson Museum and Park, 11410 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda. Enjoy educational, hands-on activities to learn what a child’s life was like in the Dawn Settlement founded by Henson in Canada after escaping from Maryland via the Underground Railroad with his family. Free with paid admission ($4-children and seniors; $5-adults).
  • Josiah Henson Museum and Park is open Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. (Park is open daily, sunrise to sunset). Special opening on Monday, Feb. 19, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
