Winter Programs of Montgomery Parks Now Open for Registration



Montgomery Parks is offering hundreds of classes and programs this winter to promote an active, healthy lifestyle. Registration is now open for most winter programs on ActiveMontgomery.org.

Winter offerings span a variety of interests that include history, hiking, hockey, health and wellness. Programs are available across the County for people of all ages and abilities.

Among the special programs available this winter will be:
  • Botanical Bookmarks and Book Swap class for people 55-and-older to make botanical bookmarks and swap books with others.
  • A Garden After Dark: Holly Daze stroll through the annual Garden of Lights display at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, followed by wine, cheese, dessert and make-your-own ornament activity.
  • Nature Girls Club for exploring nature and learning outdoor skills and nature journaling.
  • Birding for the Family to learn the basics of bird identification and how to select and use binoculars.
  • DIY Ugly Sweater in which attendees can bring their interesting sweaters as part of the holiday fun.
  • American Sign Language Paint and Sip Night where participants will learn the basics of acrylic painting. All materials will be provided. Attendees may bring (peanut-free) snacks and beverages (including alcohol).
Montgomery Parks synthetic fields are available for use via permit for the winter season from Dec. 1 through March 14. Requests must be made a minimum of seven days in advance.

Registration for Winter Term I ice hockey, ice skating and tennis classes opens at 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 19.
