Reminder: FEMA Coordinating National Test of the Wireless Emergency Alert and Emergency Alert System
Notification was provided in the previous issue of the Paperless Airplane that the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission plan to conduct a test of the Wireless Emergency Alert and Emergency Alert System. It is currently scheduled to take place on Thursday, Sept. 20, between 2:15 and 2:30 p.m. The Wireless Emergency Alert system could be used to transmit messages pertinent to Hurricane Florence. If the system is being used for that or any other emergency affecting a portion of the United States, the test date will move to Oct. 3.
