‘Celebrate Damascus 2024’ Weekend Will Include a Cruise-in Car Show, Parade and Fireworks on Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13



The annual “Celebrate Damascus” festivities on Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13, will include a cruise-in car show, parade and fireworks. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Summer Fun.”

The parade, starting at 7 p.m., will proceed north from Damascus High School on Route 27. It will go to Lewis Drive and end at the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department Activities Grounds on Lewis.

The Volunteer Fire Department will have food on sale at the activities grounds. Chicken dinners will be available from 4:30-8 p.m.

There will activities hosted by businesses and organizations throughout Damascus on Saturday, July 13. The Volunteer Fire Department will have an open house and will be conducting tours of the facility and the equipment it uses.

The fourth annual cruise-in car show will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday on the grounds of Carquest Auto Parts at 9930 Main St.

 

On the grounds of the Damascus United Methodist Church, the Lion’s Club will host a flea market from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and there will be children’s activities, a moon bounce, food trucks and the Market Street Big Band will be performing from noon-2 p.m.

The Damascus Heritage Museum will be open on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Free trams will transport people from points along the celebration.

The rain date for the fireworks will be Saturday, July13.
