Libraries Offering Free Age-Appropriate ‘Mini-Comic Book’ Virtual Workshops on Aug. 17 and 19

Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will offer two free virtual “Mini-Comic Book” workshops in August, one geared to ages 10 and up and the other to those 50 and up. The workshops will be facilitated by cartoonist, illustrator and animator Leila Cabib.

The mini-comic book is a fun format for telling a story in words and pictures. Participants in each one-hour workshop can bring an idea to the program, which can take the form of a story, poem, recipe or daydream. During the workshop, participants can write and illustrate a brief narrative that can be factual, fictional or a combination of both.

Registration is required. Each workshop will have a maximum of 20 participants.

Participants in each workshop will need to provide their own supplies. They will need three 8.5 x 11-inch sheets of unruled paper, scissors, a pencil, an eraser, and a black fine-point pen.

The workshops are funded in part by a Wheaton Cultural Project Grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County.
