Upper County Outdoor Pool Open for Pooch Pool Party on Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 21-22

Montgomery County Recreation will be closing the Upper County Outdoor Pool in Gaithersburg earlier than other outdoor pools. The closing will provide an opportunity for County dogs to go for a summer swim at the Pooch Pool Party on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 21-22.

The Upper County Outdoor Pool is located at 8211 Emory Grove Road in Gaithersburg. Its final day of operation for humans was Sunday, Aug. 15. Dogs will be permitted to swim from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on each day of the Pooch Pool Party. The fee for each day is $10 and the number of available slots is limited. Advance registration is required.

Before the pool is cleaned for the winter, dogs get the final swim. Each dog must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Any dog displaying signs of aggression will be asked to leave. Dog owners must be able to provide written proof of a current rabies vaccine before the dogs will be allowed into the event.

County residents may purchase a dog license from Montgomery County Animal Services & Adoption Center. Residents of the City of Rockville and the City of Gaithersburg must license their pets with their respective municipality. For pet licensing information, Rockville residents should call 240-314-8937 and Gaithersburg residents should call 301-258-6343.

When registering online for the event, the name of the responsible adult who will accompany the dog must be listed.

Due to health concerns, humans may wade into the pool only up to the knees.

More information about the event is available at 240-777-6870.
