Community Input Sought on Programming as Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center Prepares to Open in 2023

Montgomery County Recreation's Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center (SSRAC) is scheduled to open in 2023. Located in the Central Business District of Silver Spring, the project is part of a public-private partnership with the Housing Opportunity Commission and the Lee Development Group. The recreation department is now seeking input on the types of programming residents would like to see in the center.

The first of its kind project will encompass recreation, aquatics and senior programming all under one roof. SSRAC will include both recreation and leisure activities. Pools are designed for general swimming, low level diving, exercise, aquatic play and training. A gymnasium, exercise and weight room spaces, movement and dance studios, multipurpose activity rooms, public use space and social space with a culinary arts kitchen are also included.

Members of the community are invited to attend a public forum at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Silver Spring Civic Building, located at 1 Veterans Place, to share their input. Residents will be given a short presentation followed by the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

Community members who are unable to attend can complete the survey.

Sign language interpreters and other auxiliary aids or services are available upon request, preferably at least three days before the event. Call 240-777-6840 to request accommodations.
