The Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade is looking for volunteers. The annual event, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, in Silver Spring, needs volunteers, aged 13 and older, to dress up in costume, to serve as unit leaders and to be inflatable and balloon handlers.
The hours for volunteers are from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (volunteers need to be present the entire six hours). Volunteers meet on parade day at the Silver Spring Civic Building at One Veterans Place at Ellsworth Drive and Fenton Street.
Extra safety and sanitation measures will be taken to keep parade volunteers safe. All parade participants are required to wear a mask indoors and out. There will be distanced sign-in spaces for volunteers outdoors on the plaza. The lineup itself is outside or in an open-air parking garage. Hand sanitization stations will be located at volunteer check-in, Veterans Plaza, each section of the parade line-up and at all portable restrooms.
