“Promoting Tourism and Hospitality in Montgomery County” will be the theme from noon-1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, when Montgomery County’s COVID-19 Economic Revitalization and Recovery program continues its series of virtual town hall meetings to keep businesses informed on strategies for doing business as the health crisis continues.
County Executive Marc Elrich initiated the series of town halls held every other Friday to share timely updates on COVID-19 topics of interest to the business community. The town halls give businesses an opportunity to hear directly from County leaders. Judy Costello, the County Executive’s Special Projects Manager, will host the session.
During the Oct. 22 town hall, Ms. Costello will welcome Kelly Groff, president and CEO of Visit Montgomery, and Cory Van Horn, the Visit Montgomery director of marketing. They will discuss how Visit Montgomery is contributing to economic recovery in the County by promoting it as a destination for meetings, conventions and travelers. They will share their work on supporting constituents during the pandemic and preview an upcoming grant, “Discover MoCo.”
“Visit Montgomery is one of the County’s hidden powerhouses supporting a wide range of hospitality businesses and spreading the word globally about how we are a great place to live, work and play,” said Ms. Costello. “I look forward to their leadership team’s update on their mission, on support during COVID and on the new grant program that we hope to jointly release before the holidays.”
Ms. Costello also will address updates on the County COVID-19 vaccination efforts and economic recovery from the health crisis with Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Earl Stoddard and Deputy Health Officer James Bridgers.
