The MCASAC is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood.

If you are considering adding a pet to your family, please visit our shelter and have our staff help you find a furry friend for your home."
Adoptions are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and no appointment is required. Adoptions are same day. Potential owners should be prepared to take home an animal by bringing a leash and collar for dogs or a carrier for cats and small animals.

The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC), operated by the Office of Animal Services, provides high standard sheltering and care to homeless, abused and neglected animals. It is the County’s only open-admission, municipal shelter. Through adoptions, education, outreach and more, MCASAC serves as a critical community resource to promote and advocate for responsible pet care. Animal Services Officers are available seven days a week to investigate complaints and respond to animal emergencies 24 hours a day.
