Silver Spring Ice Skating Rink Now Open, With Advance Reservations Required

The Silver Spring Ice Skating Rink at Veterans Plaza is offering staggered skating sessions with online reservations and ticket purchasing. The outdoor rink is a great place for families and adults looking for fun, winter-themed outings—especially if they are hesitant to attend indoor gatherings due to the increased spread of COVID-19 and the Omicron variant.

The Skating Rink is located at 1 Veterans Place in Downtown Silver Spring, near the Silver Spring Civic Building. It is open seven days a week and is scheduled to be open for the season through March 31 (weather permitting). The rink has more than 400 pairs of skates available to rent, sized from toddler to adult.

Skating sessions are for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Reservations are required to skate and are available two weeks in advance. To purchase tickets, visit https://www.silverspringiceskating.com.

Skating hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sundays; noon-10 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; noon-11 p.m. on Fridays; and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. on Saturdays.

Skating slots are priced at $11 for adults and $10 for children and seniors. Skate rentals are $5.

The Skating Rink requires social distancing while at the facility, on the ice rink itself and while waiting to enter the facility. Masks must be worn inside the facility.

Skaters, family members and friends also can take advantage of the nearby restaurants and coffee shops to grab a hot chocolate or meal to eat at one of the outdoor dining tables on Veterans Plaza. Dining and restaurant options can be found at www.SilverSpringDowntown.com.
