The Montgomery County Revenue Authority (MCRA) will hold a virtual public meeting about the Montgomery County Airpark from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23. Topics expected to be addressed include the history of the Airpark, Airpark operations, community concerns and suggested community solutions regarding noise and safety.
The Airpark is owned and operated by the MCRA. The Airpark, which opened in Gaithersburg in 1960, is open for business or personal use.
The Airpark has a 4,200-foot runway, which has three instrument approaches and makes it the closest “jetport” to the Nation’s Capital.
The following have indicated they plan to participate in the meeting: Federal Aviation Administration subject matter experts in noise, safety and environmental concerns from the FAA Eastern Region and Maryland Aviation Administration Director of the Office of Regional Aviation Ashish J. Solanki. The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association is expected to be represented by Vice President of Airports and State Advocacy Mike Ginter, Manager of Airport Policy Adam Williams and National Business Aviation Association Director of Airports and Ground Infrastructure Alex Gersten. Southeastern Representative Gregory Voos also will participate.
