Residents Invited to Join Dedication of Newly Renovated White Oak Athletic Field on Sunday, June 6

The newly renovated athletic playing field located adjacent to the White Oak Community Recreation Center located at 1700 April Lane in Silver Spring will be dedicated in ceremonies at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 6. Residents are invited to join in the celebration that will be jointly hosted by Montgomery County Recreation and Montgomery Parks.

Montgomery County Council President Tom Hucker will be joined at the dedication ceremonies by Council Vice President Gabe Albornoz; Councilmembers Will Jawando and Hans Riemer; Montgomery County Planning Board Chair Casey Anderson; Deputy Director of Montgomery Parks John Nissel; Montgomery County Recreation Director Robin Riley; and other County officials and community members.

Following the opening ceremonies, there will be sports activities including agility training, ultimate frisbee, baseball and soccer.

The renovation of the field will improve its playability with better draining soils, provide shorter turfgrass height for better ball roll, help with field consistency and give the field overall improved sustainability.
