Several Days Remain for Maryland’s $1 Million VaxU Scholarship Promotion for 12-17-Year-Olds Who Are Vaccinated for COVID-19
Several days remain in Maryland’s $1 million VaxU Scholarship Promotion, an incentive program to encourage 12-17-year-olds to get vaccinated against COVID-19. The initiative, jointly administered by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) and the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), has provided $50,000 scholarships to 20 winners through weekly random drawings.
According to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 67 percent of the State’s 12-17-year-olds have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Those vaccinated became eligible for the lottery drawings. Two winners have been selected each week. The final drawing will be on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6
CDC data states that Maryland’s 12-17-year-olds have the third-highest vaccination rate in the country.
Federal COVID-19 relief funds are being used to cover the cost of the program. For more information on Maryland’s VaxU promotion, visit the MHEC VaxU Scholarship Promotion website.
